TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 1,259,671 people in Tangerang City had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the vaccination coverage to reach 85.2 percent as of October 10, 2021. The city targeted administering vaccines to 1,479,301 residents.

Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah said more than 15,000 people are being vaccinated every day. During this October, he mentioned that the highest vaccination administration was recorded on October 8, 2021, reaching up to 24,195 people.

"The vaccination centers established in a number of areas in collaboration with the National Police-Indonesian Military (TNI) are highly effective in increasing the number of people vaccinated in Tangerang City," said Arief in his office on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

Meanwhile, the second-dose vaccination coverage amounted to 54.5 percent or 806,447 people.

The city's Health Agency Head dr. Dini explained the first-dose vaccination coverage for all targeted groups was above 50 percent. Among the elderly group, 83,235 out of the total target of 104,881 people, or 79.4 percent, had received the first dose of the vaccine, and 66.362 people or 63.3 percent had received the second dose.

Among teenagers, including students, 91,537 people or 51.26 percent of the total target of 178,803 people had been vaccinated with the first dose.

The Health Agency appealed to people who have not been vaccinated to immediately register through the local health center or directly visit available vaccination sites.

Tangerang City Government continued to list residents who have not been vaccinated in collaboration with community or neighboring units (RT/RW) administrators. "Although the number of cases is dropping, we continue to intensify COVID-19 vaccinations," Dini said.
