TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency found 41 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, October 11, 2021.

The agency’s Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, explained the new cases were obtained from PCR tests on 12,260 specimens aimed at detecting new cases.

Although new infections were still found, the number of active cases in the capital city fell by 259 cases today.

“So the number of active cases as of today is 1,464 people. They are still under treatment or isolation,” said Dwi in a written statement of the Jakarta Health Agency released on Monday.

During the past week, the Health Agency recorded the city’s COVID-19 positivity rate or the percentage of all tests reported positive at 0.7 percent. The figure is below the safe recommended standard set by the World Health Organization or WHO at less than five percent.

Jakarta has thus far detected 859,202 cases of COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020. Of the figure, 844,189 people have recovered, bringing the recovery rate to 98.3 percent. Meanwhile, the virus mortality rate hit 1.6 percent, or that 13,549 people succumbed to the disease.
