TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said he was interested in including Liyangan Site in the Borobudur travel map. Located on the slopes of Mount Sindoro in Liyangan Hamlet, Purbosari Village, Ngadirejo District, Temanggung Regency, Central Java, the site is a relic of the Ancient Mataram Kingdom.

“Borobudur is one of five super-priority destinations and we are building its travel map. If it’s true that the Liyangan site is the Borobudur's 'great-grandfather’, it will be very interesting,” said Sandiaga in Temanggung, Wednesday, October 6.

According to him, the Temanggung Regency as a neighboring region of Borobudur could also become a supporting region for the priority tourist destination. “This is very interesting and I will promote tourism in Temanggung Regency,” he said.

Sandiaga Uno also planned to sit down with stakeholders regarding the plan for designing the travel map. “Because earlier, the Temanggung Regent said there are festivals and many artists in Temanggung,” he added.

Temanggung Regent M. Al Khadziq said his region has various tourism potentials, including the Liyangan Site which has existed since the second century AD, and sports tourism. The regency has 92 registered tourist sites, of which 20 active destinations are mostly tourist villages.
