TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno initiated the Work From Borobudur program which allows people to work from the complex of Borobudur Temple, Central Java. This program is part of a series of 'work from tourist destinations'.
“I am now trying to undergo work from Borobudur. The industry has already prepared work activities from tourist destinations as a form of adaptation to and an opportunity amid the pandemic,” said Sandiaga in a virtual press conference on Tuesday, June 22.
The program concept, he added, had been brought up since early 2021. He claimed that players of the tourism and creative economy industry welcome the program to revive the sluggish economy sector due to the pandemic.
Sandiaga ensured that business actors will apply the standard health protocols while paying attention to the risk of virus transmission. They also have obtained the CHSE (Clean, Healthy, Safety, and Environment) certification from the ministry.
The minister also sought to accelerate Covid-19 vaccination at tourist sites as part of the government’s efforts to contain the pandemic and recover the economy.
However, Sandiaga Uno ensured that the local government would limit the operating hours and the number of visitors. Previously, the ministry initiated the Work From Bali program. Seven institutions and ministries under the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime and Investment planned to send civil servants to work from the island of the Gods in a bid to help drive local economic growth.
