TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan on Sunday attributed the capital city’s noteworthy Covid-19 mitigation effort to what he considers as 'exceptional teamwork' mimicking Marvel’s popular ‘The Avengers.’

He acknowledged that multiple city components from the city administration, police, military, up to the private sector and mass-organizations contributed to Jakarta’s ability to suppress the spread of coronavirus.

“This is thanks to collaborations, the teamwork, [and] is not a result of one individual. This is effectively the Avengers rather than a singular hero, but plenty of heroes,” said the governor on September 26, Antaranews reported.

Anies Baswedan confidently mentioned that the city’s pandemic is currently under control after logging a claimed 0.7 percent positive cases, which is well below the World Health Organization (WHO) standard. The latest development means out of 100 people tested, there is a chance that only one person is confirmed to be positive.

The Jakarta Health Agency recorded overall 857,232 cases since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic with 841,719 recovery cases (98.2 percent) and 13,503 deaths (1.6 percent).

Despite the significant drop in cases, the governor asserted that the amount of Covid-19 tests will not be reduced and claims are currently 11-times above the standard WHO had set in place to maintain “The Avengers”-like pandemic mitigation effort.
