TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has several areas with high air temperatures. But the hottest places on earth are mostly located in the Middle East, with temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius during their hottest days.

Here are the 10 hottest places on earth, as listed by Independent.

1. Death Valley, California, United States

The Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park, California, holds the record for having the hottest air temperature ever recorded in the summer of 1913 with 56.7 degrees Celsius. The place has an average temperature of 47 degrees Celsius during summers.

2. Ouargla, Algeria

The highest temperature ever recorded in Africa was 51.3 degrees Celsius. This was in Ouargla, the Algerian Sahara desert to be exact, on July 5, 2018.

3. Mitribah, Kuwait

Mitribah, a remote area in northwest Kuwait, recorded 53.9 degrees Celsius on July 21, 2016, the third highest ever recorded globally and second highest for Asia.

4. Basra, Iraq

A temperature of 53.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Iraq's Basra International Airport on July 22, 2016.

5. Turbat, Pakistan

Turbat, a city in Balochistan, Pakistan, has the fourth highest temperature ever recorded on earth with 53.7 degrees Celsius on May 28, 2017.

6. Dallol, Ethiopia

The area has an average daily maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, recorded from 1960 to 1966, the highest among all habitable places on earth.

7. Aziziyah, Libya

The city regularly experiences temperatures of over 48 degrees Celsius in the middle of summer.

8. Quriyat, Oman

Located southeast of the capital Muscat, Quriyat City's highest minimum temperature was on the night of June 26, 2018, with 42.6 degrees Celsius recorded.

9. Dasht-e Loot, Iran

The desert highlands have the hottest land temperatures on the planet. According to satellite measurements made between 2003 and 2009, the maximum temperature is 70.7 degrees Celsius.

10. Bandar-e Mahshahr, Iran

This city reached the second highest heat index on record with 74 degrees Celsius in July 2015. The hottest tea temperature ever recorded was 51 degrees Celsius.
