TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cendrawasih Military (TNI) Commander Maj. Gene. Ignatius Yogo Triyono guarantees protection for all citizens in Papua. His remark came in response to the call for war and the threat to evict non-Papuans by Sebby Sambom.

Sebby is the spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army or TPNPB - Free Papua Organization (OPM).

"They have been making these threats for a long time. One thing is clear, the TNI and the police are stationed in conflict areas in Papua, securing the areas from security disturbances by the [terrorist separatist group]. The ones we protect are the entire community, the people," Yogo told Tempo on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Yogo added that the call for war by TPNPB-OPM has little effect on the people, who he said are living their lives as usual. However, he said that the Cenderawasih Military Command is maintaining communication with all elements of the community.

Sebby Sambom called for war on the TNI and the Police, saying he would expel non-Papuans from Papua. This is not the first time Sebby has issued this threat.
