TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Yogyakarta COVID-19 Task Force reported a new record for the COVID-19 case development on the last day of the extended policy of level 3 public mobility restrictions (PPKM Level 3), Monday, September 13.

The task force recorded less than 100 new confirmed cases today. The number of daily cases below 100 in the province was last logged in mid-March 2021.

“Today's additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Yogyakarta are 83, while the total active cases are 5,217,” said the task force's spokesperson Berty Murtiningsih.

Berty explained the results were obtained from the examinations on 5,066 samples. To date, the daily positivity rate fell to 1.64 percent.

“However, the number of death cases increased by 13, bringing the total deaths to 5,073 cases,” she said.

The number of patients recovered from the disease also rose by 325.

Yogyakarta Secretary Kadarmanta Baskara Aji said the city administration hoped that the PPKM status could be eased from the current level 3 to level 2.

“The transmission rate of COVID-19 in Yogyakarta continues to decline during the PPKM period of September 7-13. The daily positivity rate is now far below the WHO’s benchmark standard at 2.80 percent,” said Aji.
