TEMPO.CO, Mataram - Mandalika tourism area in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) required at least 1,025,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to support the international motorsport road racing, World Superbike (WBSK), in November 2021, said Ariyanti Anaya as the Health Ministry’s Acting Director-General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices.
“[To reach the vaccination rate] target of 70 percent needs 1,025,000 doses,” said Ariyanti at a coordination meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) led by NTB Governor H Zulkieflimansyah in the latter’s office in Mataram on Thursday, September 9.
She explained the Covid-19 vaccination rate in the province was still low at only 20 percent. Thus it was necessary to intensify vaccination in all regions, including Central Lombok Regency as the location of the Mandalika circuit, to reach the target.
“Indeed, it can't be done all at once, but gradually. Because the vaccine must be distributed to other regions, and arrive in stages,” she added.
“But what is clear is that we have received vaccines from a number of countries. Hopefully, before the WSBK implementation in November, the vaccination target in NTB can be achieved,” Ariyanti said.
NTB Governor H Zulkieflimansyah also said speeding up Covid-19 vaccination in the province was vital to successfully host various international events such as World Superbike and MotoGP in Mandalika circuit. “Accelerating vaccination is the current focus of NTB,” he said.
