TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry in a meeting on Wednesday revealed that it will be testing the use of Covid-19 tracing app PeduliLindungi as a requirement in 20 tourism sites. The 20 tourist destinations will become the early adopters of this program.

The Ministry’s Deputy of Industry and Investments Fadjar Hutomo, in opening the meeting, said “This attempt is a follow up to the instructions from the Home Affairs Minister on the implementation of the various levels of the public activity restriction (PPKM) and trialling the gradual opening of tourism sites under strict health protocols and adoption of the PeduliLindungi app.”

He said the app will be tested in tourism sites in Jakarta, West Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta, which have met the requirements set by multiple ministries that include the Tourism Ministry, Maritime Affairs and Investments Coordinating Ministry.

The program will see the reopening of malls be followed up by non-mall tourism sites, as well as hotels, restaurants, and cafes that are not located in malls.

“One of the requirements from this health protocol trial is the use of PeduliLindungi app. It is not an entry ticket but an initial screening,” said Fadjar.
