450 Oxygen Concentrators Arrive from Japan as Part of Covid-19 Aid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Wednesday saw the arrival of 450 oxygen concentrators from the Japanese government for Indonesia which were donated under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) partnership.

The statement from the Japan Embassy in Jakarta on August 29 states the recent delivery is part of the US$5.6 million emergency grant and a total of 2,800 oxygen concentrators that were initially announced on July 20.

With this delivery, there are already 950 concentrators in Indonesia as of August 29. Japan has also delivered over 2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine under a government dose sharing bilateral scheme.

The grant is mainly to support Indonesia’s Covid-19 pandemic handling as Japan is a strategic partner that pledges to continue supporting Indonesia to suppress the spread of Covid-19.
