TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya has said that his administration will not enforce the vaccine certificate requirement right away for entry to malls once they are allowed to reopen.

"Because only 52 percent of the residents of Bogor city have undergone COVID-19 vaccination," he said after inspecting the Botani Square Mall and Bogor City BTM Mall on Saturday.

According to Arya, although the COVID-19 vaccination rate in Bogor city is currently the highest in West Java, there are still many residents who have not been vaccinated.

Once the COVID-19 vaccination in Bogor city reaches more than 80 percent, then the vaccine certificate requirement policy for entry to malls will be enforced, he informed.

However, if allowed to open, the shopping centers in Bogor City must implement strict health protocols for managers, tenants, and visitors, he added.

"There will be supervision of the implementation of health protocols at the shopping centers from the Bogor City COVID-19 Handling Task Force. If there are violations, there will be sanctions," he stressed.

Shopping centers in Bogor city have remained closed for almost two months since the implementation of the public activity restrictions (PPKM) policy, starting July 3, 2021, he noted.

According to the mayor, to be able to operate, malls in Bogor city must meet the requirements set by the central government, such as installation of boards for barcodes, the PeduliLindungi app, and health protocol rules.

"When we visited the two malls, we also had a dialogue with the management and members of the shopping centers association in Bogor city, so that when malls are allowed to open, all shopping center managers are ready," Arya said.

Based on his visit to the two malls on Saturday, he said everything was ready. This readiness was marked by the presence of a QR code barcode board placed near the entrance and exit of the malls, as well as the PeduliLindungi application, he added.
