TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The North Jakarta Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) on Monday has thrown its weght behind the North Jakarta Police to investigate the alleged case of empty COVID-19 vaccine syringe that was injected into a recipient. This incident went viral on social media.

Citing Antaranews, North Jakarta PPNI chairperson Maryanto urged the police to investigate the incident that was suspected to have taken place at a vaccination center in Pluit, North Jakarta, on August 6.

“The video can cause multiple interpretations, we cannot speculate. However, the North Jakarta PPNI will certainly work alongside the North Jakarta Police to investigate this incident,” said Maryanto on August 9.

He also called for a comprehensive investigation into the patient in the video and the individual who took the video and spread it. “[It can go as far as] conducting a laboratory test to make sure as to whether the vaccine has already been injected into the patient’s body,” he said.

Maryanto clarified that the vaccinator who had been accused of misconduct by a Twitter account was not a member of the North Jakarta PPNI.
