Indonesia Leads Southeast Asia's Olympics Medals Tally

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's position in the list of medals for the Tokyo Olympics fell again on Tuesday, August 3. However Indonesia is still at the top position among other countries in the Southeast Asian region.

According to Olympics.com, as of 13:30 Japan Standard Time (GMT+9) China still leads the medals tally, followed by the USA and the host nation. Indonesia stood at 37th place with one gold, one silver, and three bronzes.

Indonesia is ahead of its neighboring Southeast Asian nations, followed by the Philippines at the 43rd spot with one gold and one silver, Thailand at 52nd place with one gold, and Malaysia at 75th with one bronze.

Indonesia's first three medals came from weightlifting. Lifter Windy Cantika Aisah took home the bronze from the women's 49 kg event. Eko Yuli Irawan got silver from the men's 61 kg event, and Rahmat Erwin Abdullah got another bronze from the men's 73 kg event.

On Monday, Indonesia got its only gold from Greysia Poly and Apriyani Rahayu who won badminton's women's doubles final. On the same day, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting won bronze from the men's singles.
