Jakarta Active Covid-19 Cases Reduce by 11,000

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian capital city of Jakarta logged 3,567 new Covid-19 cases on the second day of the level 4 of public activity restriction, or PPKM Level 4,on Tuesday, July 27.

Head of Jakarta’s Health Agency on Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, wrote in a statement that the new cases were obtained from 23,801 PCR tests.

According to her, the active cases dropped 11,186, which leaves 40,809 people currently treated at hospitals and in isolation centers.

Throughout the past week, the Jakarta Health Agency recorded a positivity rate of 20.6 percent with a total rate of 15.2 percent.

Despite the drop, the current positivity rate in the city is still above the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) which mandates not more than 5 percent.

Since Jakarta was struck by the pandemic, there had officially been 798,502 Covid-19 cases with 746,087 recoveries or at the rate of 93.4 percent. Meanwhile, 11,606 people have unfortunately succumbed to the infectious disease with a 1.5 percent death rate.
