TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government prepared the digital Covid-19 contact tracing system to be integrated into shopping malls or merchants. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said Indonesia’s tracking app PeduliLindungi would soon be updated to optimize the digital tracing.

“This will be linked to the system of the Health Ministry and the Communication and Information Ministry so that the QR Code will be able to screen who have been vaccinated and undergone PCR test,” said Airlangga in a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday, July 25.

Airlangga explained that digital tracing via the homegrown app could detect people who have received their vaccines against the coronavirus disease and those who had polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab tests.

“Hopefully, PeduliLindungi programs can go live later when they are launched in public spaces. We can prepare it,” he added.

Airlangga went on to say that due to the surge in Covid-19 cases, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo also instructed to increase the oxygen supply in the country through existing facilities or factories outside Java, such as in Batam, Morowali, and Wedabe.
