TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has stated that Indonesia’s Covid-19 pandemic handling had been running well during the enforcement of the public mobility restriction, or known as PPKM Level 4, in Java-Bali.
The hospital bed occupancy rate (BOR) and the infection positivity rate began to plummet in several provinces in Java, he informed.
“Nevertheless, we must remain vigilant in dealing with this improvement trend, and we must always be alert to the highly contagious delta variant,” said Widodo in an online press conference on Sunday, July 25.
He claimed the government thoughtfully took the health aspects into account. At the same time, the socio-economic aspects of the community, particularly the fulfillment of daily needs, must also be prioritized.
On this basis, Jokowi decided to extend the level 4 restriction, but with a few adjustments, especially for micro-businesses.
The adjustments of the Covid-19 restrictions include: traditional markets selling basic needs are allowed to operate as normal, while markets selling other than basic needs may open until 15:00 with a maximum capacity of 50 percent. Street vendors and small businesses are also allowed to open until 21:00.
