TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) on Thursday extended the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States Ambassador Sung Yong Kim regarding the two country’s partnership on counterterrorism.

The meeting was held with minimal attendance between BNPT chairperson Boy Rafli and Kim on July 22.

Rafli elaborated that the partnership includes information exchange, joint training, and the development partnership through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He also deemed the U.S. as a critical ally in preserving peace and security in both the regional and multilateral levels.

Sung Yong Kim also appreciated the extended partnership between Indonesia and the U.S., saying that he was pleased with his discussion with Boy Rafli regarding parallel partnerships in fighting terrorism.

The United States Ambassador for Indonesia asserted that no country in the world is able to fight terrorism alone and that such counterterrorism efforts enable countries to collectively fight various terrorist threats in the future.
