TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government spokesperson for Covid-19 Wiku Adisasmito on Sunday announced a number of strategies that have been prepared to solve the lack of ICU facility problem facing patients admitted with Covid-19 across a number of hospitals.

“The government has urged every region to add hospital facilities, emergency fields, isolation centers, and supporting self-isolation with strict supervision from already established posts,” said Adisasmito to Tempo on July 18.

He revealed that the government has provided centralized isolation wards for minor Covid-19 symptoms which is essential to reduce the load on hospitals, which has been ordered to apply an improved patient distribution plan abiding to the rules issued by the Health Ministry.

The latest case surge that took off since May 2021 eventually caused hospitals to handle an enormous number of Covid-19 cases at a short period of time with many reports stating patients had to queue to be admitted for hospital treatment with several cases suggesting hospitals were forced to deny patients due to lack of facilities available.
