TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration is optimistic that it will reach its 7.5 million Covid-19 vaccination goal. Jakarta deputy governor Ahmad Riza Patria said 7.4 million people in the city concurrently have been vaccinated.

Inshallah, we will soon reach the 7.5 million goal,” said the Jakarta deputy at South Jakarta’s Budi Luhur University on July 14.

Some 5,540,355 people have received the first dose and 1,952,866 have completed their Covid-19 vaccination. Last month, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo targetted the capital city to vaccinate 7.5 million people by August this year.

“Public interactions and mobility are extremely high in Jakarta, which makes the speed of vaccination is highly decisive for the spread of Covid-19,” Jokowi argued.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan encourages the capital city residents to actively visit local vaccination centers to help the city reach its goal.

“We want to ensure that the process run smoothly. We want everyone to actively take their part and register through JAKI to schedule their vaccination,” said Anies Baswedan.
