Tax Income Up 4.9% in First Half

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Finance Ministry official stated that tax revenues in the first semester of 2021 reached Rp557.77 trillion, a 4.9-percent increase from the first half of 2020. The figure accounts for 45.36-percent of the Rp1,229.6 trillion target for this year as set by the government.

"This shows a relatively very significant and stable increase in revenue. This tax revenue is a reflection of economic development," the ministry's tax compliance expert staff, Yon Arsal, said in an online discussion on Wednesday, July 7.

Yon said that tax revenue begins to show a positive trend considering it was contracted by 12 percent in the first half of 2020, the impact of a pandemic-stricken economy.

He said that based on the type of taxes, only non-oil gas revenues' income tax (PPh Non-oil and gas) was contracted in the first semester.

The PPH Non-oil and gas grew at a negative rate of 2.91 percent to Rp303.17 trillion, accounting for 47.52 percent of this year's target.
