TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Passengers of the Greater Jakarta Commuter line will be required to wear double face masks starting on Thursday, July 8, which adheres to the advice from doctors and the Health Ministry, especially under the Java and Bali Emergency PPKM that will last until July 20.

“Users of the commuter line can utilize N95, KN95, or KF94 masks without doubling its layers. This policy has been introduced to prevent a wider spread of Covid-19 which has increased in the past few weeks,” said KAI commuter line VP corporate secretary Anne Purba in a statement on July 7.

However, during the last day of disseminating this new rule many passengers could be seen not wearing double masks, let alone the safer N95 types.

Purba reminded passengers that if the rule is not obeyed, commuter line security personnel are permitted to deny passengers from entering KAI trains and station areas. She said the operations of the KRL must continue as safely as possible but will only serve urgent purposes.
