TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As the number of COVID-19 cases skyrocketed, the Indonesian government decided to tighten the enforcement of the micro-scale community activity restriction or Micro PPKM. The policy will take effect starting tomorrow, June 22, until July 5, 2021.

Airlangga Hartarto, the chairman of the COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KEC-PEN), said restaurants, cafes, and such eateries both in markets and shopping malls must only serve dine-in customers at 25 percent of their total capacity. “The rest must opt for a take-away service,” he said in a virtual press conference on Monday, June 21.

He explained the delivery or take-away services were also allowed until 8 p.m. according to the restaurant’s operating hours.

Airlangga, who is also Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, announced that offices of state-owned enterprises (SOE) and regional-owned enterprises in COVID-19 red zones must only operate at 25 percent capacity with other employees or 75 percent working from home.

“While offices in non-red zones are allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity under strict health protocols,” Airlangga said.

Essential sectors, such as industry, public utilities, national vital projects, and places offering public basic needs are allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity with adjustments to operating hours and health protocols against COVID-19 during the tightened Micro PPKM.
