TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil on Thursday said he is preparing his province to become ASEAN's investment hub in the future. He linked this to the massive investment relocation from China due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are preparing to become an investment hub in ASEAN because of the investment relocation from China,” said Ridwan Kamil on a webinar of the Supreme Audit agency (BPK) on Thursday, June 17.

The governor said that West Java’s investment is moving to a positive trend after experiencing a contraction in 2020. The investment realization during the Q1 of 2021 in this province reached Rp37.14 trillion which contributed to 16.9 percent of the total investments arrived in Indonesia this year.

Ridwan Kamil said the province will expand to other investment opportunities such as increasing food sovereignty and medical infrastructure. He would also improve the province’s digitalization sector and fully support the growth of 4.0 industries but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
