TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta logged 2,376 new Covid-19 cases after conducting 21,814 PCR swab tests, as stated by the City Health Agency’s head of disease prevention and control Dwi Oktavia on Wednesday.

“From the tests, 15,269 people underwent PCR tests to diagnose new cases which resulted in 2,376 positives and 12,893 negatives,” said Oktavia in a written statement on June 16.

In total, Jakarta’s coronavirus cases currently reached 454,671 with new 1,067 cases on Wednesday, adding the patients that are undergoing treatment and isolations to the total of 20,311 people.

The recovery rate reached 93.8 percent with 426,695 recoveries. The total deaths were recorded to be 7,665 people with a 1.7 percent mortality rate.

However, the Jakarta administration recorded the city’s positivity rate in the past week reaching 18.7 percent, while the percentage of covid positives in total is 10.9 percent. This is certainly alarming as the World Health Organization (WHO) standard only tolerates 5 percent positivity rate.
