TEMPO.CO, Kudus - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked the Kudus Regency Government to optimize centralized Covid-19 isolation centers at the district to village levels which could accommodate 779 people to contain the virus spread.

“Kudus Regent has also prepared it well. If residents [who are tested positive for the disease and] refuse to undergo isolation in the Donohudan Boyolali Hajj Dormitory and want to stay in Kudus, they can self-isolate at places provided by Kudus Government, such as low-cost flats and isolation centers in each sub-district,” said Ganjar when visiting Kudus on Sunday.

He said Bakalan Krapyak low-cost apartment or Rusunawa has a capacity of 180 people and has only been occupied by 20 people. Besides, centralized isolation sites available in each sub-district have a total capacity of 599 people.

At present, there are 1,797 Kudus residents undergoing self-isolation due to Covid-19 exposure. “So we can optimize existing centers and wait for the needs from the district administrations,” Ganjar added.

According to him, enforcing self-isolation as an attempt to contain the pandemic must be carried out immediately and the regent must not hesitate to reach him if there are difficulties in the execution.

“The TNI (Indonesian Military) and the police will work together to solve it. The most important thing is that the public supports the centralized isolation centers, and there is no more hide-and-seek given that the Covid-19 variant from India has entered [the archipelago] and spreads faster compared to previous virus variants,” Ganjar Pranowo said.
