TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina made sure that the people living surrounding its refinery in Cilacap were not affected by the fire that broke last night. The fire occured at one of its oil refinery located in the refinery complex and far from people's residential area.
"The oil refinery that caught fire is far from people's residential area," said Pertamina's Cilacap Refinery Area Manager of Communication, Relations, and CSR, Hatim Ilwan in a press release on Saturday, June 12.
The fire broke on Friday evening June 11, at 19:30 local time. The location of the fire was confirmed to not be in the refinery area or in the production plant.
The cooling process following the fire is still ongoing to prevent the fire to reoccur. Around 50 firefighters were deployed to mitigate the blaze by using the foam monitor to the source of the fire.
The company is still investigating the cause of the fire.
During the fire, the Cilacap refinery worked normally. Pertamina ensured that fuel and LPG supplies won't be affected as the product in the refinery that caught fire was not related to the production of the fuel and LPG.
