TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is expecting to receive another delivery of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines on Friday, June 11. The latest batch of 1 million vaccine doses is to supply the 'gotong royong' vaccination program, which is a private-funded program aimd to increase the number of vaccinated people that are outside of the government’s priority groups.

Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi in her statement on Thursday confirmed this.

Prior to today’s delivery, the government also received 1,504,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines sourced from the multilateral Covax Facility scheme. Indonesia also received 313,100 doses of the British-Swedish vaccine on July 5, 2021.

In total, the Indonesian government has received 98,728,400 vaccine doses from a multitude of brands comprising CoronaVac, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm which will be used to vaccinate 70 percent of the population or roughly 181.5 million people.

All of which were approved under the World Health Organization (WHO) emergency use listing.

“The government continues to commit and work hard to secure Covid-19 vaccine supplies to fulfill the domestic need, which is not an easy task amidst the pandemic where supplies are still very limited due to the world’s demands,” said Retno Marsudi in her statement.
