TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher, Kurnia Ramadhana, suspects a number of state institution leaders were involved in eliminating 75 Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) employees who failed to pass the controversial civic knowledge test (TWK).

He believes that the test - which is made a requirement for KPK employees upon becoming state apparatus (ASN) - is just a ploy designed by current KPK leaders to get rid of certain employees in the anti-graft institution.

Citing Koran Tempo (Tempo’s newspaper brand) on the june 9 edition, the researcher said there are a number of institutions that are believed to be involved in the conspiracy.

The elites of the state institutions have suspectedly agreed to terminate 51 KPK employees in a meeting at one of the state institutions on May 25. These employees being fired are those who are working on major cases that involve a number of political party elites.

Tempo managed to obtain a copy of the document regarding the May 25 meeting which consisted of five main aspects in the deal which the first and second are inaugurating 1,271 KPK employees and promote them to state apparatus status and train them under the State Administration Institution.

The third, fourth, and fifth points agreed upon were related to the test mechanism for 75 KPK employees who did not meet requirements. They planned to have 24 of them participate in a civic knowledge test and national defense training. Those who pass the tests will progress as a state apparatus while those who failed the test will be terminated.
