TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bekasi City health agency has recorded 730 cases of dengue fever for the past four months from January - April 2021 with the most cases recorded in April which coincides with the transition from rainy to dry seasons.

“Early April saw 330 cases,” said Bekasi health agency’s head of disease control Dezy Sukrawati on Friday, May 28.

According to Dezy, dengue fever cases this year have dropped compared to the same period in 2020 which amounted to 900 cases. However, the city administration urges people to remain vigilant. The data last year also differed in terms of peak cases as January 2020 recorded the most cases.

She added that Bekasi residents must routinely maintain populated neighborhoods and apply the basic proper methods to prevent mosquitoes from breeding, instead of conducting routine fogging.
