The agency explains that the earthquake was a shallow quake from the depths of 10 kilometers at sea and epicentered at 236 kilometers Northwest of Tahuna.

The specific coordinates were 5.68 degrees North Latitude and 125.00 degrees East Longitude with the quake itself not triggering a tsunami warning. However, the BMKG urged local area residents to remain vigilant for possible aftershocks.
