TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) ranks 362 in Forbes 2021’s Global 2000 on the world’s largest public companies and, accrding to Antara, has also been named as Forbes ‘World Best Banks 2021.’

Apart from BRI, there are six Indonesian public holdings that were included in the list but the bank tops the rest in seven consecutive years.

BRI director Sunarso said Tuesday, May 18, in Jakarta that “This achievement is proof of the commitment to maintain a sustainable performance with the focus of rescuing MSMEs and government partners in the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN).”

Forbes describes its Global 2000 list as a measurement of the world’s largest public companies in terms of four equally weighted metrics: assets, market value, sales and profits. Last year’s edition offered a glimpse into the early economic implications of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, we see the results over 12 months of market turmoil and unfathomable human loss.

BRI ranks 1,007th in terms of sales and 529th in terms of profitability, while its asset is ranked 354th and market value ranks 505. This bank which focuses on MSMEs segment recorded revenue of up to US$10 billion, assets up to US$107.6 billion, and profited US$1.3 billion.
