Jakarta Governor Excludes These Groups from Mudik Ban

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has passed the regulation overseeing the requirements to travel outside of the capital city’s borders, which follows the central government’s regulation that effectively bans the mass exodus or mudik to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The mudik ban will officially be imposed from May 6th to 17th. The regulation controls the people who have the right to hold an exit and entry permit (SIKM) during this ban.
Regulation also states that “SIKM holders during their trip for the intention of other than ‘mudik’ or mass exodus must be equipped with PCR test results, antigen swab tests, or GeNose tests showing they are negative for Covid-19.” This SIKM will only be valid for a maximum of 48 hours prior to a person’s departure.
This means that the Jakarta Governor agrees to exclude certain groups from the ‘local travel ban’. These groups include people who are ill, grieving family members, pregnant women that are accompanied by one family member, and lastly women in labor.
