TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has ordered the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander and the Police Chief to continue to hunt down all members of the Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

The President made the order following the recent death of the Papua Regional Intelligence Agency (BIN) Chief Brig. Gen. I Gusti Putu Danny Nugraha Karya during a shootout with the rebel group in Daungbet village, Beoga district, Puncak regency on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

“I emphasize this, there is no place for armed criminal groups in Papua or all corners of the country,” he said in an online press conference on Monday, April 26.

Brig. Gen. Putu Danny was reportedly shot dead in the head. His body was evacuated from Beoga district to Timika on Monday morning by Caracal helicopter and Smart Aviation aircraft.

It was estimated that the body of the BIN Papua Chief would arrive in Timika at 07:30 Eastern Indonesian Time (WIT) and flown to Jakarta at 12:55 WIT and expected to arrive at 15:25 WIB.

“The state will honor [the deceased] with a promotion to one level higher for the dedication and sacrifices of Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Danny,” the President said.

Jokowi, on behalf of the people, the nation, and the state extended his deepest condolences to the Papua BIN Chief’s family and relatives.
