TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinator of climatology data and information of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Bogor, Hadi Saputra, said West Java is predicted to enter the dry season in April.
“The 2021 dry season will start in April, especially in Java’s northern coast. Around 19 percent [of the area have entered the dry season],” said Hadi in a press conference on Friday, April 9.
Hadi explained that the dry season in West Java generally kicks off from the northern coast area and ends in the southern area. The regions to experience the dry weather in April include central and northern Bekasi, central and northern Karawang, northern Subang, most parts of Indramayu, and northern Cirebon.
The northern part of Bogor, the northern part of Purwakarta, the southern part of Karawang or Bekasi, the central part of Cirebon, and the northern part of Kuningan will see the season in May.
Meanwhile, the BMKG forecasted the dry weather will arrive in northern and northeastern Bogor, Depok, northern Sukabumi, eastern southern Sukabumi, northern and southern Cianjur, most regions of Bandung, and most regions of Purwakarta in June.
A small part of southern Karawang, the southern part of Subang, the southern part of Indramayu, most parts of Sumedang, most parts of Majalengka, the northern part of Cirebon, most parts of Kuningan, most parts of Garut, western and northern parts of Tasikmalaya, most parts of Ciamis, Banjar, and eastern parts of Pangandaran will also enter the season in June.
The last areas in West Java to have the dry season in July are western and southern Sukabumi, eastern South Garut, most areas of Tasikmalaya, western and southern parts of Ciamis, and most of Pangandaran.
“So the dry season in West Java starts in the north and ends in the south. It is the opposite of the rainy season which begins from the south to the north,” said Hadi, concluding the BMKG's weather forecast.
