TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java Province Education Department will issue permits for the reopening of 2,800 high schools in July 2021. But he asserted that the schools must always follow the proper health protocols.

Head of the West Java education department, Dedi Supandi, said the local administration provides two options for the academic institutions, which are 'face-to-face' learning where students and teachers are physically present in schools and remote learning.

“[The choice] will be on the students’ parents,” said Supandi on April 7.

Based on the agency’s data, 4,996 high schools in West Java requested the permit to conduct an on-site learning. The schools are required to provide the students and the staffs with adequate tools to commit to health protocols.

Schools will also be required to provide isolation rooms and health checks for possible cases of Covid-19 transmission.
