TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla suspected that the terrorist group linked to the suicide bomber in Makassar had prepared a national terror plan. Kalla made his statement following recent arrests made by Police officers in several locations, which always resulted in findings of bomb materials.

"This is to make us cautious, so the public must remain aware," Jusuf Kalla said in a written statement on Monday, March 29, 2021.

According to JK the group just wanted to enter heaven easily, by thinking that killing people will grant them entry to paradise. Whereas, Kalla said that no religion teaches its followers such beliefs. "We need to unite to face this radical group," Kalla said.

Following the suicide bomb attack in the Cathedral Church on Jalan Kajaolalido in Makassar on Sunday, March 28, 2021, Jusuf Kalla, who is also the Chief of the Indonesia Mosques Council (DMI) held a meeting with a number of inter-religious figures incorporated in the Religious Followers Communication Forum of South Sulawesi on Monday, March 29, 2021.

The meeting was held to suppress the issue of intolerance rising following the bombing attack. Therefore, Jusuf Kalla reminded all religious followers to unite in facing radical groups masked under the name of religion.
