Anies Baswedan: Zero Tolerance for Sexual Harassment

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan requested all officials within the Jakarta Provincial Government to have no fear in reporting sexual harassment.

"For officials in the Jakarta Provincial Government who experienced harassment, do not hesitate to report," Anies said in a written statement on Monday, March 29, 2021.

Anies' statement was related to the suspected sexual harassment conducted by the Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Agency of the Jakarta Provincial Government Blessmiyanda against his staff.

Blessmiyanda has been temporarily dismissed on Friday, March 19, 2021, or one day after the Jakarta Provincial Government receive two reports, which are suspected sexual harassment and adultery. Blessmiyanda is also currently being investigated by the Jakarta Inspectorate.

Anies applauded and appreciated the bravery of the official who made the report. Anies underlined that there will be zero tolerance against indecent behavior within the Jakarta Provincial Government environment.

"Our stance in the Jakarta Provincial Government is we will not tolerate indecent behavior that harms the values and integrity of the Jakarta Provincial Government, and also violate the occupational oath to uphold civil servant dignity," Anies said.

Anies Baswedan confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will put protection for the official who made the report as its main priority. In addition, the Jakarta Provincial Government also provides psychological and legal counsel for the official through cooperation with the Jakarta Child Empowerment, Protection, and Population Control Agency (DPPAPP) and the Center for Women and Children Empowerment Integrated Services (PTP2A).
