TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, in a video conference on Wednesday, March 24, officially launched the Covid-19 vaccination for journalists held by the city Health Agency. The governor said vaccinating journalists is essential as people working in this profession are highly susceptible to contracting the coronavirus.
He noted the challenges that journalists face as they interact with many people and being physically present doing interviews to report the news.
“Remote working are possible for other professions and have smaller risks,” said Anies Baswedan in the press conference. “Hopefully with this vaccination, Insyallah our journalist fellows will be able to conduct their duty with a peace of mind because the risks would be controllable and hopefully stay healthy always.”
At least 5,200 journalists that reside in the Capital City and the Greater Jakarta Area such as Depok, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi, will get the Covid-19 shots.
Prior to this, vaccination for journalists was also held by the Indonesian Health Ministry at Gelora Bung Karno stadium.
