TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria on Tuesday responded to a survey claiming that the capital city has the highest number of people rejecting Covid-19 vaccinations compared to other provinces in Indonesia.

The survey - conducted by the Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) - claimed that 33 percent respondents refused to get Covid-19 vaccine shots.

“These people refusing can be caused by many aspects, among these reasons is that Jakartans are still eager to know better about vaccines. There are a number of products,” said Riza Patria on March 23 at City Hall.

He stated that the enthusiasm of people in Jakarta for the city’s Covid-19 vaccination program has shown a contrast to the study results.

“The number of vaccinators, the daily vaccination rate is always improving. What does this show? It shows high enthusiasm from the people,” said the deputy governor.

The SMRC survey found various levels of 'vaccination rejections’ in Indonesian provinces, such as East Java with 32 percent, Banten (31 percent), and the lowest is Central Java (20 percent) but Jakarta recorded 33 percent of respondents refusing the Covid-19 vaccination program.
