TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Ombudsman was set to summon the city’s Health Agency over the implementation of Covid-19 vaccination for the family members of the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD).

“We will investigate the Jakarta Health Agency whether the council allows vaccines for their family members. That is maladministration,” said the Jakarta Ombudsman head Teguh Nugroho at City Hall, Tuesday, March 16.

The legislators received their second dose of the vaccine today along with their spouses. The inoculation will last until Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Teguh explained that based on the technical guidance of the vaccination, the current priority recipients are only public service workers, not including their family members. “Their spouses are not a public servant,” he added. “This is so inappropriate.”

The Ombudsman argued that legislators taking office in Kebon Sirih have taken the rights of others who are more in need of Covid-19 vaccines.

Acting Secretary of the Jakarta DPRD Hadameon Aritonang confirmed that today's second phase of vaccination would be for legislators and their family members. “For legislators’ wives or husbands,” he said.

Apart from them, the DPRD members also asked for the Covid-19 vaccine for other family members such as their children or parents. Hadaemon said that would await confirmation from the Health Agency.
