TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Monday said he is eyeing to have 2 million Bali residents vaccinated for Covid-19 until July this year to boost national vaccinations that is hoped to reignite tourism in the ‘Dewata Island.’

He said Bali has been included in the list of priority for the Covid-19 vaccination after holding a meeting with representatives of the central government and local government.

Alhamdulillah vaccine doses are better available and what now needs to be prepared are the vaccinators,” said Sandiaga Uno on Monday, March 15.

The vaccination program he refers to is the byproduct of a previous meeting with the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Pandjaitan, and Bali Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati.

In order to source these vaccinators the government is currently communicating with the local Udayana University, Military Command, and Police. Apart from the free government vaccines Uno is also trying to initiate vaccinations from the private sector which is meant to vaccinate employees of the private industry.

“This will start a new hope and spread the word that Bali is back and Bali as an icon of tourism,” said the Tourism Minister.
