IDI: Covid-19 Mortality Rate of Health Workers in February Drops by 63%

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) said the Covid-19 mortality rate of health workers in February 2021 decreased significantly by 63 percent.

“[The death rate] in December 2020 to January 2021 is quite high, but it has declined by 63 percent in February,” said IDI Chairman Daeng Faqih in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

He mentioned that in January 2021, the number of deaths caused by coronavirus infection among healthcare workers reached 167. Meanwhile, in February, the death toll dropped to 61.

Daeng said that his side was intensifying the campaign for handling healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic by applying the one step ahead early intervention method and establishing an emergency call service 117 extensions 3.

According to Daeng, the data revealed that out of 105 medical personnel who were helped, nine did not survive. With this assistance service, the safety rate of health workers reached 91.4 percent.

On January 2, IDI reported that 504 health workers died of Covid-19 from March to December 2020. In detail, 252 of them were doctors, 171 nurses, 64 midwives, 7 pharmacists, and 10 medical laboratory personnel.
