TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry on Tuesday announced that it is eyeing to increase women’s representation in SOEs board of directors and form a more inclusive environment in state-companies.

Citing Bisnis.com, SOEs Deputy Minister Pahala Nugraha Mansury said that the ministry will continue to encourage women’s talents and systematic role in state-owned enterprises.

“We are eyeing to increase women’s representation to 15 percent in the board of directors. We have made attempts to develop their talents in a more structural and systematic way to reach the women’s representation in SOEs,” said Pahala Mansury in the ‘Ring The Bell for Gender Equality’ event on March 9.

One of the ways is through the establishment of 'Srikandi' community that accommodates and collectively supports the role of women in their fields that would benefit their careers respectfully.

“We will continue to improve this for the sake of progress in the present and the future. I would like to use this opportunity to call for support, to use our strength to create powerful and valuable women and take roles for leadership,” said Mansury.

Currently, there are 33.6 percent female directors across SOEs. But women's representation in seven percent of SOEs is still below 15 percent and 60 percent of SOEs do not have female board of directors or members of corporate boards.
