TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday, February 22 officially ratified the Government Regulation (PP) No.37/2021, which is one of the dozens of derivatives of the Job Creation Law, that oversees a business owner’s requirement to include its employees in the government’s security schemes for terminated workers (JKP).

The JKP regulation is introduced together with 48 derivatives of the Job Creation Law that was officially announced on February 21, although they were already signed by President Jokowi and ratified by the Law and Human Rights Minister on February 2.

The JKP assurance program seeks to maintain a decent level of life if laborers or workers in general lose their jobs.

The fourth sub-article in the law states that JKP program participants are workers who have been included by business owners in the government’s social protection programs and meet several requirements, such as having an Indonesian citizenship, being below 54 years of age at the time of registration, and having an official working relationship with businesses.

However, workers are only permitted to be registered in the JKP after they being registered in other social protection programs such as health program insurances, work accident insurances, pension plans, and life insurances.
