TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police have joined the search for Russian drug fugitive Andrew Ayer a.k.a. Andrei Kovalenka, who was wanted by Interpol. Andrew, who was still serving time at the Class II A Kerobokan Penitentiary in a drug case, managed to escape from the Bali Ngurah Rai Immigration office.

“Two teams from the Bali Regional Police and two teams from the Denpasar Police totaling 40 officers are mobilized. The National Police are also conducting monitoring,” said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono on Monday, February 15.

Andrew managed to escape from the Special Class I of TPI Ngurah Rai Immigration Office on February 11, 2021, at around 13:20 local time during an administrative transfer process to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim).

Prior to his escape, Andrew was visited by his female colleague Ekaterina Trubkina, who was also a Russian citizen. Ekaterina is believed to have assisted Andrew to escape.

The Head of the Special Class I of Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Parlindungan, called for the community’s participation. People are asked to immediately report to the police upon seeing or learning the whereabouts of the two fugitives.
