TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Sawah Besar Police in Jakarta reported that a Japanese national who was self-isolating in an apartment room located in Sawah Besar was found lifeless on February 9. The police also confirmed that the man had contracted Covid-19.
“The crime scene investigation revealed that the body is confirmed to have Covid-19, which is why police had coordinated with the local Covid-19 task force upon conducting evacuation under existing health protocol,” said the Sawah Besar Police Chief Adj. Comm. Maulana Mukarom on February 9.
The police chief said the man's initial name was HM and that relatives of the deceased had been notified along with the Japanese Embassy. However, police will continue to investigate the reason HM self-isolated and why he had not chosen to be treated in a hospital.
According to police reports, the relatives were already informed about the location where the Japanese man was self-isolating and that the family is already aware of the illness he had suffered from.
