TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno uses a scorecard to ensure that the development of five super-priority tourist destinations run as planned, as ordered by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.

“Based on the direction of President Joko Widodo, we have one year to prepare five super-priority destinations, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang,” the minister said in a meeting with the ministry’s officials in Bali, Thursday, Jan. 28. The scorecard will be checked every month to monitor the development of each destination.

He explained that the card has three indicators that show the readiness of the destination. The green indicator shows if the development runs well as planned, yellow if it needs boosters, and red mark for the slowest one.

There are three elements in each indicator, namely the main infrastructure, supporting infrastructure, and interconnections. In the interconnection aspect, Sandiaga asserted the importance of internet connection amid the digital era. “Not to forget the activity management aspect which includes MICE and creative economy products; either it’s the culinary, fashion, or handicraft,” he said.

Minister Sandiaga Uno also conveyed several programs of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry throughout 2021, such as the Tourist Village, which targets the development of 244 tourist villages that are independent, certified, and sustainable, until 2024. Other projects include BISA movement, tourism aids, and many others.
