TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo confirmed that the derivative regulations of the Job Creation Law or UU Cipta Kerja would be completed soon. Drafts of Government Regulations (PP) and Presidential Regulations (Perpres) were being finalized.

“It will be finished soon in the next few weeks,” said the President at the Media Group Summit event on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The Job Creation Law was issued on November 2, 2020. As noted in the provisions of the law, the derivative rules must be completed three months after the law was enacted.

Drafts of the derivative rules could be accessed publicly on the government’s law official page, uu-ciptakerja.go.id. The page informed that there would be 40 PP and 4 Perpres. However, only 36 drafts of PP and 4 drafts of Perpres were available to date.

The government pledged to implement the policy well once the regulations are issued in a bid to boost the trust of domestic and foreign investors.

Jokowi hoped investment for Indonesia would trigger job creation and the products could compete in global markets. However, he asserted that the products must be environmentally friendly.
