Indonesia Surpasses 1mn Covid-19 Cases; Jakarta to Add More Hospitals

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government was set to add three more hospitals for Covid-19 patients. Deputy Governor Riza Patria said the city would then have 101 referral hospitals.
Riza said the plan was in line with the policies of Governor Anies Baswedan and the Health Ministry in a bid to anticipate a significant surge in positive cases. Moreover, the nationwide number of cases surpassed one million on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
“Everything has been managed. We increase the number of hospitals from 98 to 101. We are trying to add more,” said Riza at the City Hall, Tuesday.
He added that other hospitals had also been asked to be prepared to treat patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease.
“We have said repeatedly that Jakarta will keep increasing and ensuring the availability of various facilities, starting from hospitals, laboratories, ICU rooms, even burial graves,” said Riza.
He went on to say that Jakarta had also coordinated with Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno to add more hotels as isolation centers.
Riza admitted that the hospital bed occupancy rate reached 84-86 percent. “InshaAllah (If God permits), we can keep preparing various facilities including human resources. In fact, our hospitals also treat non-Jakarta residents at around 24-30 percent. This means the occupancy rate without them is still 55-60 percent,” he said.
